5 Star London Luxury, Calligraphy, Flowers & News

Monday 21st of November 2011

I am pleased to say that as we move towards Christmas things are starting to slow down a little at Hall of Cakes.  We have a lovely wedding on the 3rd December  and then we are wedding free until the New Year.

Usually we do take Christmas bookings, but this year has been such an amazing year for us that we need to take just a few weeks out from cake making to catch up with all the other things that come part and parcel of a running a successful business.

We are also using this time to get out and meet people and have recently connected with some amazing people in the wedding and event industry.

You will see in the links page that we have teamed up with Karen Woolven Floral Design. http://www.kwfloraldesign.co.uk.  Karen’s work is quiet simply ‘stunning’.  Her website states ‘beautiful flowers, perfectly arranged and expertly designed’.  This description is absolutely spot on.

I actually met Karen a couple of years ago at the Royal Naval College in Greenwich.  I have had the pleasure of working with Karen on a few events and very much hope to work with her and her team in the future.

Karen is based in South East London – just outside Blackheath. Karen has worked on a multitude of weddings and events and what I love about Karen is that no event is too big or too small.  Karen is very down to earth and her expertise and experience allow her to work perfectly in tune with any client or event.  Whether it be for a small intimate celebration or, (and she will probably tell me off for saying this)  the Royal pre wedding party for Wills & Kate at the Mandarin Oriental in April this year.

Also, last week I spent a day at the London based studio of the incredibly talented Paul Antonio. http://www.paulantonioscribe.com.  Paul is an internationally acclaimed calligrapher and his artistry, skill and level of perfection quite frankly left me spell bound.  I will actually blog this item separately as I have so much to share with you about this amazingly talented man.  But, here are a couple of images in the meantime….

We are also pleased to annouce that we have been selected by 5ive Star London to link as one of their recommended cake designers for their new website lauched earlier this month.   http://www.luxury5starhotelslondon.com.

5ive star London is an alliance of the most distinguished London five star hotels that have set the benchmark of unparalleled levels of luxury service and comfort in London. These hotels are landmarks and destinations in their own right shadowing London’s most recognisable attractions in the centre of London.

The Hotel alliance currently comprises 10 five star London hotels, to include The Dorchester, The Ritz, The Lanesborough and the Mandarin Oriental.  Visit the ‘Private Dining’ page of the website to see some of Londons most prestitigeous dining roomshttp://www.luxury5starhotelslondon.com/event-venues

Lastly….. I am really scared….. The Hairy Bikers new series has started…. ‘The Best of British’.  The date of the ‘Wedding’ episode is yet to be revealed but the series is showing as 30 consecutive episodes at 3.45 in the afternoon.   I may regret telling you this as haven’t been party to the edit but I am assured by the BBC production team all will be fine…  7 minutes just now seems a hell of long time to me!!!…
