Well, the first answer is yes, of course we do! Because we can create spectacular cakes based on any theme or period!
Bridgerton style cakes often get confused with Victorian style cakes but to be perfectly honest there really isn’t much difference in the style. Of course, the request for Bridgerton style cakes has largely evolved from the popular TV series, but the actually period was know as the Regency period. This period was fro 1811-1820. Following the Georgian period and just before the Victorian era.
The early 19th Century saw one of the biggest disparities between rich and poor that England had ever seen. Owing to the industrial revolution, the rich prospered and their wealth grew, whilst the poorest of society suffered very hard working conditions and lives that were so often shortened by poor nutrition and living conditions. The wealthiest wanted to show their wealth and hosted lavish balls and to show to the world their fortune and favour
So, you can see how wedding cakes in particular became more and more ornate, more and more tiers with more and more exquisite detail. The more ostentatious the better. This would show wealth and success and place a family amongst the highest echelons of society.
