We were asked by Alena if we could design and create a London themed cake for her daughters birthday in February.  The family were visiting from the USA and spending a week in London with Miabella to see the sights and do lots of girlie things in our beautiful capital.  Would be absolutely delighted to! was of course, our answer!

Alena cake us some insight on the particular things that Miabella loved and the main thing was our late Queen Elizabeth.  Well, for an 8 year old girl obviously quite unusual but Alena said she was obsessed with her! So, our dear Queen most definitely had to be included.

Another feature was to be Paddington Bear.  Well, you can’t have the Queen without Paddington now on a London themed cake!  Of course, we also then had to include the famous marmalade sandwiches – which then evolved to afternoon tea!  With afternoon tea we included our favourite London crockery – which is that from Claridges.. We absolutely adore Claridges!  Have a look at the afternoon tea.. Claridges Afternoon Tea

A Queens Guard, a London underground sign – of course, stopping at Miabella and can you see a nod to Buckingham Palace?  We love an architectural cake so the base of the cake had to be the Palace itself! Although, we would absolutely LOVE to do on a bigger scale.. Can you imagine an enormous cake of Buckingham Palace?!

Anyway.. The cake was delivered to the family’s apartment just off The Mall for their arrival from Heathrow on the morning of Miabella’s birthday.

We received the following message from mum…

OMG WOW!! I am just speechless.  We saw the cake as soon as we arrived at the flat and honestly, its just the most amazing thing I have ever seen!  The details are just incredible! WOW, its almost to beautiful to eat!  I feel truly honoured that you made such a beautiful cake for my gorgeous little girls birthday.  Thank you so so much.  We are so grateful xxx

I think it was a hit!
