Lydia and Johann only booked their wedding a couple of months ago and were therefore under a lot of pressure to arrange everything within a very short timeframe.

Although Lydia didn’t have a great deal of time to research every detail, she wanted everything to look absolutely beautiful and for every detail to compliment her chosen themes.

Lydia and Johann had chosen naval blue and white as their theme colours – obviously very befitting for the The Old Royal Naval College.

As you will have read from the website and the blog, at Hall of Cakes, we feel it is essential to invite clients to a design consultation, in order to discuss ideas and requirements, theme colours and flowers…… and then from these ideas, the design process begins.

Unfortunately, Lydia just didn’t have the time to get to see us, but was very happy to commission the design via phone and email.  This isn’t something we usually do, so it was certainly a challenge!

Lydia loved various designs on the website, but was struggling to describe exactly how she would like her final design to look.

It was necessary to ascertain from Lydia which particular details she liked from each design in order to initiate  the design process.  Eventually, after various discussions, we concluded that Lydia absolutely adored the intricate piping detail, sugar roses were a absolute necessity and she also wanted to bring in the ‘Naval Blue’ theme colour and, if possbile, to include some diamonte detail…….

Lydia also specified that the cake should be ‘stacked’ as opposed to any separators being used and we agreed on the flavourings being lemon with lemon zest buttercream, vanilla with vanilla bean and raspberry preserve and traditional rich fruit cake.

I have posted some images of the final design together with snaps of the bridal party, whilst they were enjoying drinks and photos at the Collonade.

I was completely delighted that the finished confection perfectly complimented the day………

Wednesday 11th August… Have just received the following email from Lydia

Hi Nicola,

I’m on my honeymoon at the moment but thought I must take the time to thank you for our beautiful wedding cake, the brooch was the perfect finishing touch. The cake tasted divine and we had lots of positive feedback about the cake. I’ve given your details to my friend who is getting married in October.

Thank you so much!

Regards
Lydia & Johann
