Thank you so much to Philippa Sian Photography for sharing the images of Amelia and Jonathan’s wedding day back in December

30 Pavilion Road in Mayfair was the venue.  Tucked away just behind Harvey Nic’s this private house. managed by Searcy’s is a very unique venue for an intimate wedding or celebration.

Amelia and Jonathan wanted a showstopper of a cake.   Oh, and I think mum did as well!  It really is so flattering when couples come to us with a (kind of) vision of what they want, but then put their trust in us to create something that is bigger, better and grander in every way.

This wedding cake features over a hundred handcrafted sugar roses, plus hundreds of tiny blossoms and sugar crafted leaves.  Amelia wanted her cake to look very ‘sugar crafted’ and whilst she wanted it it to look traditional, a modern take on traditional was required.

I absolutely love it when clients are brave enough to NOT to have a white wedding cake (which is becoming more frequent to be honest).  When using white sugar flowers and white piping, the detail ‘pops’ out so much more than if the background of the cake is also white.  Champagne is a beautiful contrast to white and still incredibly subtle.  Combining with the ornate gold mouldings, I think the overall effect is a modern take on a very traditional elaborate design.

Amelia and Jonathan were an absolute pleasure to work for.   I wish we could do this for them all over again!
